POLITEIA SUCCESSFULLY TRAINED THE NEW GENERATION OF YOUTH LEADERS

POLITEIA Western Balkan School for Youth Participation was held in Danilovgrad, Montenegro from 1st to 6th of April 2019.  The 2019 edition of the Politeia School continued the tradition of training and building the capacities of youngsters to be the new generation of youth leaders .

25 young people from the Western Balkans region and Turkey had the opportunity to understand the strategic approach to reforms, designing of action plans, methodology of planning, implementation and monitoring. The youngsters are expected to share their new gained knowledge with their peers and to continue their work in their communities. The 5 day lectures covered by expert lecturers and moderators, offered different theoretic and practical workshops.

Nataša Vučković, president of the Center for Democracy foundation, Stanka Parać Damjanović from BNLD, Kerim Međedović form LDA Nikšić, Marko Mrdak, Deputy Chief Negotiator of Montenegro and Ilija Grgutović, deputy mayor of Danilovgrad opened the 2019 edition of the school on the 1st of April in Danilovgrad. After the official opening, the first day continued with team building activities.

The second day was filled with many interesting activities and important topics. It started with the workshop called “What do we know about EU integration process?” facilitated by Nataša Vučković and Sarita Bradaš from Center for Democracy Foundation. One of the panels titled “Europe and Western Balkans – integration and enlargement Reforms as a homework for WB countries – key challenges” was hosted by Prof. dr Gordana Đurović from Faculty of Economics, University of Montenegro.

The panel on the topic “Our common challenge: Rule of law” took place the third day. The lecturer was Eralda Cani from the Faculty of Law, from University of Tirana. Further on Pavle Dimitrijević from „CRTA“ held an interesting workshop – Youth vs corruption.

Day 4 of Politeia School began with a workshop and a lecture on Key social and economic issues, and Social dimension of the EU integration held by Bojana Ružić from Arbeiter Samariter Bund. The afternoon sessions with Dina Rakin where covering youth related topics: Creating social pillar for youth, and EU programs for youth 2014-2020.

The presentation and the workshop on “Public policy design and monitoring methodology”, facilitated by Nives Miošić-Lisjak marked the fifth day of Politeia School.  Later on, the participants presented their own group work projects regarding public policy design.

On the final day of Politeia School, participants evaluated the school and received certificates.

POLITEIA regional school was organized in the framework of the project “Regional Youth Compact for Europe” implemented by the Center for Democracy Foundation, European ALDA network and the ALDA – Western Balkans Network for Local Democracy, CRTA, Youth Act and Sodem. This project is funded by the European Union and the Balkan Trust for Democracy, a project of the German Marshall Fund of the United States.
